Richard Tunnicliffe has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Richard is currently the Head of Engineering at Emitwise, a position they have held since December 2022. Richard was responsible for ensuring the technical quality of SwiftKey's mobile keyboards, mentoring developers, defining processes, and collaborating with product and design teams. Richard also led the SwiftKey client team through multiple releases, contributing to the app's success in the Play Store. Richard played a key role in stabilizing the SwiftKey IME during the launch of SwiftKey 3.0.
Prior to SwiftKey, Richard worked at Symsource Ltd as a Technical Manager from November 2008 to January 2012. In this multifaceted role, they were involved in hands-on development, project management, technical pre-sales, and line management. Richard worked on a variety of projects using technologies such as Python, Django, Java, Objective-C, and C++.
Richard's career began at Intuwave, where they worked as a Software Developer from March 2002 to December 2006. Richard was involved in various projects, including cross-platform mobile environments, synchronization, and connectivity products.
Richard'searliest work experience was at Peppers Ghost Productions as a Software Developer from October 2000 to January 2002 and at Ensign Geophysics as a Software Engineer from October 1997 to September 1999.
Richard Tunnicliffe completed their education at two prestigious universities. From 1993 to 1997, they attended the University of Cambridge, where they pursued a degree in Natural Sciences with a focus on Physics, earning their MA/MSci. Later, in 1999, Richard attended the University of Oxford, where they obtained their MSc in Computation.
