Brett Sweeney

Brett Sweeney has a diverse work experience in the music industry. Brett is currently working as an A&R Publishing at EMPIRE - Distribution | Recordings | Publishing since September 2020. Prior to this, Brett founded Outdo Music Group, LLC in March 2018 and served as the Founder and Principal. From December 2009 to February 2018, they were the Founder and Principal of Black Ribbon Entertainment, LLC.

In 2016, Brett worked as an A&R Scout Consultant at 740 Project/ 740 Records from April 2016 to December 2017. Brett gained valuable experience in marketing and artist promotion during their time as a Marketing Intern at Empire Distribution from August 2014 to February 2015. At Empire Distribution, they were responsible for creating content, managing digital assets, updating artist calendars, and assisting various departments.

Earlier in their career, Brett worked as an Academic Advisor at Merritt College from June 2009 to September 2010. With their extensive experience in the music industry and background in academic advising, Brett brings a unique skill set to their current role in A&R Publishing at EMPIRE - Distribution | Recordings | Publishing.

Brett Sweeney obtained an A.A. degree in Social & Behavioral Sciences and Liberal Arts from Merritt College, where they studied from 2007 to 2009. Brett then pursued a B.A. in Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley from 2009 to 2011. In 2012, Brett completed a certificate program in Music Business at San Francisco State University. Additionally, they obtained certifications in Digital Audio Foundations and Intro to Ad Studio from Spotify in December 2022.
