Amy Long has a long and varied work experience. Amy began their career in 2008 as a Sales Assistant at ECCO Shoes. In 2010, they took on a role as a Music Tutor for Cork City VEC. In 2011, they were a Student Engineer at Alps Electric, and in 2012 they completed a Co-op placement as a Student at Analog Devices. From 2013 to 2014, they were an Electrical Engineer at Jacobs, and from 2014 to 2018 they worked at Dell EMC in a variety of roles, including Software Quality Engineer, VPlex Technical Support Engineer II (Sr. Analyst), and member of the internal diversity group Women’s Leadership Forum. In 2018, they moved to Dell, where they were a Software Engineer and Project Lead for an application to maximize operational resources. Currently, they are a Senior Software Developer Team Lead at Empyrean Solutions, where they are involved in the design and development of the architecture of the application, requirements gathering for the project, and Azure DevOps maintenance.
Amy Long has an education history that spans from 2003 to the present. Amy obtained their Leaving Certificate from St. Patrick's College in 2009. Amy then went on to University College Cork, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2013. In 2016, they completed a Higher Diploma in Computer Science from Munster Technological University. In addition to their formal education, Amy has obtained numerous certifications, including a Grade 8 in Euphonium from the Cork School of Music in 2009, a Safe Pass from Fás in 2013, a VCP550 from VMware in 2015, a VCE Certified Professional in 2014, an Information Storage Associate Version 2 (EMCISA) in 2014, an Implementation Engineer, VPLEX Specialist Version 1.0 in 2016, and a VMAX SPEED GURU from Dell EMC in 2017. Most recently, they earned certifications in Learning Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Security Matters (To Everyone) from LinkedIn in 2020.
