Leila Daneshmandi, PhD, has a long and varied work experience. In 2013, they began their career at the Marlik Institute of Innovation and Technology as an Internship. In 2014, they were a Teaching Assistant at Amirkabir University of Technology - Tehran Polytechnic and a Graduate Research Assistant at Temple University. From 2015-2020, they were a Graduate Research Assistant at UConn Health. During 2020-2021, they were an Instructor and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Connecticut. In 2021, they were a Healthcare Strategy Analyst at Fletcher Spaght, Inc. and an Entrepreneur In Residence at the Connecticut Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Additionally, they were appointed as an Assistant Professor in Residence of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Connecticut in 2021. In this role, they are an Affiliate Professor at Peter J. Werth Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, UConn's Engineering for Human Rights Initiative, and UConn Center for mHealth and Social Media. Leila also provides grants and programs such as ThirdBridge and a Master's of Engineering in Global Entrepreneurship. Additionally, they were a Co-Founder and COO of Encapsulate, a seed-stage startup in precision diagnostics for personalized cancer therapy, from 2017-2021. In 2022, they became a Board Member of the Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC), the nation's oldest continuously operating children's invention convention program.
Leila Daneshmandi, PhD completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from the University of Connecticut between 2015 and 2020. Leila then completed a Master's degree in Master of Engineering in Global Entrepreneurship from the same university in 2021. Prior to that, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Temple University between 2014 and 2015. Leila then received their Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology - Tehran Polytechnic between 2010 and 2014. Leila began their educational journey in 2003 when they obtained their Diploma in Mathematics from the National Organization for Development of Exceptional Talents (Sampad).
