Senior Scientist I at Encoded Therapeutics

Annie Zhu Ouyang has more than 15 years of experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Annie is currently working as a Senior Scientist I at Encoded Therapeutics Inc. In their previous role as an Associate Scientist at Orchard Therapeutics, Annie designed study plans, developed novel product functional assays, and performed various cell, protein, and DNA assays. Annie also collaborated with internal and external teams to transfer enzymatic assays to contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) and resolved technical issues encountered during the transfer process.

Before joining Orchard Therapeutics, Annie worked as a Senior Research Associate at Adverum Biotechnologies, Inc., where they led the development of quality control release assays and pharmacokinetic study assays. Annie also conducted research projects as a Graduate Research Assistant at UC Irvine, where they specialized in protein purification, structure study, and gene expression analysis.

Annie Zhu Ouyang holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biotechnology from UC Irvine. Annie is a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidate in Infectious Disease at Zhejiang University. Annie is also pursuing a second Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from San Jose State University. Annie completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from South China Normal University. In addition to their formal education, they obtained a certification in Intermediate Python for Data Science from DataCamp in February 2018.
