Henk Döll is a highly experienced architect with a diverse range of work experience. In 1980, they started their career as a trainee and freelance architect at De Nijl Architecten. From 1981 to 1983, they were a founding partner and architect at Döll Houben Steenhuis Architecten, which later became Mecanoo Architects. In 1983, Henk Döll co-founded Mecanoo and served as a founding partner and architect until 2003. In 2003, they founded their own architecture office called Döll - architecten, where they worked as the founder and architect. In 2006, they became a founding partner and architect at Coido Architects, Hamburg. In 2007, they also founded Energy Floors and served as a founder and shareholder, focusing on creating awareness about energy consumption. Henk Döll also has experience as a board member, serving at D.B.S.G. Stylos from 1977 to 1979, Bureau Architectenregister from 2011 to 2019, and Foundation Atelier HSL from 2001 to 2012.
Henk Döll began their education at Het Rhedens Lyceum in Rozendaal, where they pursued their atheneum from 1968 to 1974. After completing their secondary education, they enrolled at Delft University of Technology and studied Architecture, ultimately earning the degree of Ingenieur (Ir.) in 1984. In 1976, they briefly attended the Summer Program Europe at Cornell University College of Architecture, Art, and Planning. Later, in 1993 to 1994, they attended the Stichting Bedrijfskunde Rotterdam - Small Business School for a management course focused on small businesses.
