Rachel Finkelstein currently serves as the Climate Policy Bureau Chief at the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department of New Mexico, a position held since April 2023. Previously, Finkelstein worked at the New York City Mayor's Office of Climate and Environmental Justice in various roles including Senior Policy Advisor and Acting Chief of Staff from April 2016 to November 2022. Additional experience includes serving as a Climate CoLab Fellow at the MIT Center for Collective Intelligence, and interning with Operation Paydirt focused on lead poisoning prevention. Finkelstein's career also encompasses planning and research positions at the Center for Court Innovation, St. Francis College, and Class Size Matters, as well as a teaching fellowship in Spain. Educated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Master's in City Planning, Finkelstein also completed a fellowship at New York University and holds a BA in Sociology and Spanish Literature from Wesleyan University.
