Omprakash Samudrala

Omprakash Samudrala has extensive work experience in engineering and research roles. Omprakash is currently the Senior Director of Engineering at Energy Recovery, Inc., a position they have held since August 2021. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Engineering at the same company from April 2017 to August 2021.

Before joining Energy Recovery, Inc., Samudrala worked at GE Global Research for 14 years, starting in 2003. During their time there, they held the position of Senior Mechanical Engineer/Project Leader. Their responsibilities included developing innovative rotor seals for gas turbines and conducting design and analysis of gas turbine secondary flow systems.

Samudrala's earlier experience includes a role as a Postdoctoral Fellow at MIT's Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies in 2002, where they were involved in designing and building a high-rate testing lab and developing constitutive models for polymer and nano-clay composites.

Omprakash also worked as an Assistant Scientist at the California Institute of Technology in 2001.

Omprakash Samudrala has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Caltech. Omprakash also holds a Professional Certificate in Data Science from the University of California, Berkeley Extn. In addition, they obtained a Master of Engineering (M.E.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Andhra University. The duration of their education at Caltech, IISc, and Andhra University is not specified.
