Nico Griffioen

Nico Griffioen is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in filmmaking, software engineering, and data engineering. Currently a filmmaker at MediaTuig since May 2024, Nico transitioned to this role after accumulating extensive freelance experience in software engineering with companies such as Enexis Groep and the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI). Prior freelance work also includes a data engineer position at VolkerWessels Telecom, focusing on data-driven solutions using Python, GCP, and JavaScript. Nico co-founded mindermoeilijk, an initiative aimed at enhancing communication between organizations and their clients through alternative explanations of correspondence. Leadership experience includes serving as the lead developer at PluhZ, where the focus was on improving healthcare accessibility through digital solutions. Nico holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Utrecht University, a Master of Science in Business Information Science from VU Amsterdam, and is currently pursuing a diploma in documentary filmmaking at Open Studio. Education includes attending Stedelijk Gymnasium Nijmegen, where Nico completed VWO - Gymnasium.
