Teferi Kebede has a diverse work experience in the healthcare sector. Teferi started their career at Ambo Hospital, Pediatrics ward in 2003, where they served as the Department Head. During their time there, they focused on improving the quality of healthcare and enhancing client satisfaction. In 2005, they transitioned to Ambo Health Center, where they took on the role of Health Center Head. In this position, Teferi successfully managed human and capital resources, leading to significant improvements in programmatic and administrative matters. Teferi'sleadership resulted in the health center becoming one of the top performers in health reforms, particularly in the increased caseload of the Delivery service. In 2011, Teferi joined EngenderHealth as a Program Officer, where they conducted trainings on long-acting family planning and quality of care. Teferi also provided facilitative supervision to identify gaps and provide solutions in health facilities. Teferi'sexpertise extended to coaching community-level actors as well. Teferi then advanced to the role of Regional Team Leader in 2019, managing three projects focused on sexual and reproductive health. In addition to leading six program and four administration staff members, they actively participated in programmatic and administrative activities planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Currently, they are involved in supporting the country office staff in proposal development for a new project. Teferi's most recent position is Field Project Coordinator at EngenderHealth. Teferi played a vital role in assisting the team with the implementation of the REACH project, operating in the Borena and Jimma zones of Oromia region. Teferi manages the overall programmatic, administrative, and financial aspects of the project, collaborating closely with stakeholders from various sectors.
Teferi Kebede completed their education in a chronological manner. Starting in 1999, they pursued a Diploma in Nursing Practice at Addis Ababa University, which they completed in 2001. After that, they went on to further their education at Jimma University and Addis Ababa University from 2006 to 2008, where they obtained their First Degree in senior Public Health Professional.
In addition to their formal education, Teferi Kebede has also obtained various certifications in different areas. In September 2011, they received certifications in Chief Public Health Professional, TOT on Comprehensive Contraception, Comprehensive Abortion care, facilitative Supervision for Quality Improvement, TB Infection Control, COPE, Community Engagement, Infection prevention, and VCT. These certifications were obtained from Engender Health, Oromia Regional Health Bureau, and the Ethiopian Ministry of Health.
