Richard Flint

Chief Operating Officer at England Golf

Richard Flint has extensive work experience in the golf industry. Richard started their career in 1997 as a Sales Support Assistant at the Midlands Electricity Board. In 1998, they joined the English Golf Union Ltd as a Membership Secretary, where they developed membership schemes to encourage beginners and non-club members to join. Richard later became the Development Manager (Mens Golf) and was responsible for supporting county bodies and affiliated golf clubs in grassroots golf development.

In 2005, Richard joined England Golf as a Development Manager, leading the growth of the game through county golf partnerships and affiliated clubs. Richard managed a team of national managers, regional development officers, and administrative staff.

Richard held various roles within England Golf, including Executive Director, Participation & Club Support Director, and Chief Operating Officer. In these positions, they managed the strategic direction of the participation and club support department, focused on customer engagement and growing the game. Richard also served as a Non-Executive Director for The Greenkeepers Training Committee and The Council of National Golf Unions Limited, where they contributed to the development and maintenance of a handicapping system.

Richard's work experience demonstrates their expertise in golf management, strategic planning, team leadership, and customer engagement.

Richard Flint completed a Diploma in Commercial Skills from CIPFA in 2022. In 2011, they attended the Cranfield School of Management for the Sport England Management & Leadership Programme. From 2004 to 2005, Richard pursued a Professional Certificate in Management at The Open University. In 2002, they obtained a Diploma in Managing & Developing Sport from Leeds Metropolitan University. Richard earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geography from the University of Wolverhampton between 1994 and 1997.
