Alexis F Abarca

Alexis F. Abarca is an experienced professional in HIV prevention and gender-affirming services with a focus on supporting Trans and gender non-conforming youth of color. Currently serving as the HIV Prevention Manager at Howard Brown Health since February 2021, Alexis oversees the VOICES project, which addresses health disparities among youth aged 12 to 29 through proven interventions such as support groups. Additional roles include Group Facilitator at Enlace Chicago and Facilitator for an outdoor adventure program. Previously, Alexis held positions including TGNC Youth HIV Prevention Coordinator at Howard Brown Health and Intervention Counselor at The Puerto Rican Cultural Center Chicago. Alexis holds a degree in Women and Gender Studies with a concentration in LGBTQ Studies from Northeastern Illinois University.
