Principal at EDB

Richard Yen has a diverse work experience in software engineering and support roles. Richard started their career at AT&T as a QA Management Intern in 2001. Richard then worked as a Web Developer at the California Alumni Association from 2002 to 2003.

From 2003 to 2015, Richard worked at Turnitin, where they held various positions including Staff Programmer, Database Administrator, and Senior Database Engineer. In these roles, they were responsible for designing, implementing, and managing large-scale database infrastructure. Richard also collaborated with engineers to architect scalable applications and tune the database engine.

In 2015, Richard joined EDB as a Senior Support Engineer and later transitioned to the role of Principal Support Engineer. In these positions, they provided technical support for PostgreSQL and EnterpriseDB products and mentored junior team members. Richard then became a Senior Staff Software Engineer and is currently working as a Principal at EDB, where they design and maintains internal solution verification frameworks and automated systems.

Throughout their career, Richard has demonstrated their ability to analyze business requirements, implement solutions, and improve the performance and usability of systems.

Richard Yen attended the University of California, Berkeley from 1999 to 2003, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In addition to their degree, they have earned several certifications, including being a Certified ScrumMaster by Scrum Alliance in 2014, and various certifications related to PostgreSQL and Advanced Server by EnterpriseDB in subsequent years.
