Maya Holay has a diverse work experience in the fields of pharmaceuticals, research, and product development. Maya started their career as a Biological Researcher at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, where they conducted experiments on fruit flies to study the effects of changes in the microbiome on behavior. Maya then worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at TU Dortmund University, refining the process of isolating active cannabis compounds for medical applications. Maya also gained research experience as an Undergraduate Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, using FRET imaging technology to study force localization during cell migration. Maya further expanded their research skills as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California San Diego, pioneering novel drug and vaccine delivery vehicles. Maya's knowledge in drug development was further enhanced through their role as a Product Research Intern at Pfizer, where they contributed to fine-tuning package language and product modifications. Currently, Maya is working as an Associate Scientist at Entos Pharmaceuticals.
Maya Holay earned their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemical and Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University between 2013 and 2017. In 2015, they also studied Bioengineering and German Studies at the Technical University of Dortmund. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Nanoengineering at UC San Diego, which they are expected to complete in 2022.
