Katie Riley

Team Lead, Domestic Portfolio at Environmental Incentives

Katie has hands-on knowledge of building performance-driven environmental programs – both from the ground up and throughout the different stages of development – that help people make better investments in conservation. As a Senior Associate at Environmental Incentives, Katie has managed the development of multiple water quality and habitat programs that facilitate effective conservation and mitigation across the Western United States and Mexico.

Katie leverages her expertise in program design, stakeholder collaboration, and developing incentives for working landowners to preserve and create wildlife habitat and other ecosystem benefits on productive lands. She has also developed multiple communication tools to facilitate complex, multi-stakeholder processes, including a structured stakeholder engagement strategy and an interactive Ecosystem Investment Game. These tools have been used more than a dozen times by agencies, landowner groups, NGOs, and other stakeholders to give diverse audiences a deeper understanding of how performance-based programs and pay-for-success strategies work on the ground.

Katie wants to change the way people think about mitigation in California by creating new, innovative ways to integrate conservation values on working lands.
