Amir Samir

Amir Samir, MD, MBA, MS has a diverse work experience in the field of anesthesia. Amir is currently serving as the Chairman of the Anesthesiology department at Orlando Health, a role they assumed in July 2021. Prior to this, they held the position of Vice-Chairman of the Anesthesia department at the same institution from March to July 2021.

Alongside their role at Orlando Health, Dr. Samir also holds a position at Envision Healthcare. Since June 2021, they have been working as a Cardio-Thoracic Anesthesiologist and later took on the responsibility of Director of Cardiothoracic anesthesia in September 2021.

Dr. Samir's academic contributions include an appointment as an Associate Professor at Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine, starting in July 2022.

Earlier in their career, Dr. Samir worked with TeamHealth as a Program Director from September 2019 to June 2021. Amir also served as a Cardio-thoracic Anesthesiologist at the same institution from July 2018 to June 2021.

Prior to joining TeamHealth, Dr. Samir worked at HCA Healthcare as a Cardiac Anesthesiologist from July 2014 to July 2018. Their fellowship and residency training in Cardiac Anesthesiology were completed at Henry Ford Health System, where they served as a Cardiac Anesthesia Fellow from July 2013 to July 2014 and as an Anesthesia Resident from July 2009 to July 2013.

Dr. Samir began their career as an Anesthesia resident at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University in Egypt from 2005 to 2008.

Amir Samir, MD, MBA, MS, is the Chairman of the Anesthesia Department. Amir obtained their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Ain Shams University in 2004. Amir then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Anesthesiology Residency Program from Ain Shams University from 2004 to 2008. Subsequently, they completed an Anesthesia Residency (Henry Ford) at Wayne State University from 2009 to 2013. Amir further specialized in Cardio-Thoracic Anesthesia through a fellowship at Henry Ford from 2013 to 2014. In 2020, they started pursuing their MBA in Business Administration and Management at Gies College of Business - University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which they are expected to complete in 2023.

In addition to their education, Dr. Amir Samir has obtained several certifications. These include an Entrepreneurship and Strategic Innovation Specialization from Gies College of Business - University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (expected in 2023), a Financial Management Specialization from the same institution (obtained in 2022), and a Managerial Economics & Business Analysis Specialization from the same institution (obtained in 2021). Amir is also certified in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography by the NATIONAL BOARD OF ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY INC. Furthermore, they hold the American board of anesthesia certification from The American Board of Anesthesiology.
