Darryl James has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Darryl started their career as a Freelance Photojournalist, working for various newspapers, magazines, and photo agencies for ten years. During this time, they also pursued personal documentary projects. In 2012, Darryl transitioned into the role of Design Researcher at Ziba Design, where they conducted ethnographic research and synthesized insights for actionable design solutions. After three years, they took on the role of Lead Design Strategist at THE MEME Design, where they were responsible for synthesizing user and market research to identify business opportunities for clients in the emerging technology space. In 2016, Darryl joined BEAM Interactive as the Associate Director of Strategy, where they contributed to strategic planning. Darryl is currently working at EPAM as a Principal Design Strategist, leveraging their expertise to develop meaningful frameworks and drive creative productivity.
Darryl James has a diverse education history. In 2002, they attended Loyalist College, where they pursued an Associate's degree in Photojournalism, completing their studies in 2003. Later, from 2009 to 2012, they enrolled at Portland State University and earned two Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees. At Portland State University, they majored in Psychology and Anthropology, studying both disciplines concurrently.
