Rob Abrams

Rob has extensive experience founding, leading, and financing medical device companies. He was CEO of Pulsar Vascular, a commercial stage start-up focused on novel, catheter-based cerebral aneurysm therapies. Pulsar Vascular was recently acquired by J&J Neurovasuclar, and Rob is continuing as an advisor to the company. He was operating partner at Sanderling Ventures, where he served on the investment committee to assess, interrogate and select new investments. He was CEO and Executive Chairman for Theragen Corp, a start-up focused on regenerative cellular therapy for heart failure and ischemic cardiac disease. He was Executive Chairman at Dynatherm, working on a novel device for maintaining normathermia during general surgery. For 12 years, he was with Boston Scientific Corp, and finished as Group Vice President New Business Development – Cardiovascular Group Division. In this, he envisioned and led BSC investments in several neuromodulation companies, including acquisition of Advanced Bionics, Corp, and investments in Northstar, Cyberonics, and Brainsgate. He completed the acquisition of Smart Therapeutics, Inc. for new intracranial stents, and initiated and completed the acquisition of Precision vascular Systems, Inc. In 1996, he was Director of Product Development & Engineering for Local Med, Inc., working in catheter based drug delivery systems. He had four different positions at Guidant Corporation over 9 years, including Director of R&D and Manufacturing. He is an inventor on over 95 different patents.
