Inger Ekman

Inger Ekman has a wide range of work experience in the field of user experience research and design. Inger has held various positions in different companies and institutions, including Epidemic Sound, Embark Studios, Electronic Arts (EA), Spelverkstaden AB, University of Tampere, Södertörns högskola, CKIR (Helsinki School of Economics), Helsinki University of Technology, and Hypermedia Laboratory, University of Tampere.

Their most recent role was as a UX Research Lead at Epidemic Sound, starting in 2024.

Before that, they worked at Embark Studios as a UX Research Director from 2021 to 2024, and also briefly as a Live Ops Producer from 2023 to 2023.

Prior to that, they had a lengthy tenure at Electronic Arts (EA), where they held positions such as UX Research Manager from 2018 to 2021, Senior Researcher from 2017 to 2018, and Associate User Experience Researcher from 2015 to 2017.

Inger also founded Spelverkstaden AB, a company dedicated to unlocking creativity and teaching digital skills through game making. Inger held the role of Founder from 2013 to 2016.

Inger also worked as a Postgraduate Researcher at the University of Tampere from 2012 to 2015, focusing on design research for emotional game audio.

In addition, Inger has experience as a Lecturer at Södertörns högskola, where they supervised bachelor's theses and taught courses on scientific study and game analysis from 2014 to 2015.

Inger has also worked as a Researcher and Project Manager at CKIR, Helsinki School of Economics, from 2009 to 2011, and as a Researcher and Project Manager at Helsinki University of Technology from 2007 to 2008.

Their early career included roles as a Researcher at Hypermedia Laboratory, University of Tampere from 2000 to 2007, where they conducted research on user experience, design, and novel media concepts. Inger also served as a University Lecturer, teaching in hypermedia theory, scriptwriting, and sound design from 2003 to 2006, and as a Trainer and Coach, providing computer and office tools training to university personnel and students from 2003 to 2006.

Inger Ekman pursued their education at the University of Tampere from 1997 to 2003, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Computer Sciences. Inger then continued their studies at the same university as a PhD student, specializing in Computer Sciences, from 1997 to 2013. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained certifications from Udemy, including the "Advanced SQL Bootcamp" and "The Complete SQL Bootcamp: Go from Zero to Hero" in 2023.
