Dr. Salim Aziz, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a Clinical Professor of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery in the Department of Surgery at George Washington University Hospital, in Washington, D.C. He received his medical degree from St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School of the University of London, and has held clinical, research, and academic positions at Stanford University, the University of California San Diego, the University of Washington and the University of Colorado. He has published and lectured in a wide range of research in his field, including transplantation and atherosclerosis, and is currently investigating the cardiometabolic complications of diabetes, especially in patients undergoing cardiovascular-related surgery.
