Megan Haf Powell-Williams has extensive work experience in the field of communications and media. Megan Haf started their career as a University of Birmingham Representative at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in 2013. Megan Haf then worked as a PR Intern at Golley Slater in 2014. In 2015, they took on the role of Spectator Services Area Leader at England 2015, where they managed a large team of volunteers for the Rugby World Cup 2015 matches. Later that year, they joined Transcribe This as a Welsh transcriber/translator. In 2016, they worked as a Communications Officer at the Wales Audit Office, where they supported corporate objectives through PR, digital media, and marketing activities. Megan Haf also served as a Bilingual Publisher, providing translation and publishing services.
From 2017 to 2020, Megan worked at UK Government Wales/Llywodraeth DU Cymru, first as a Communications Officer and then as a Senior Communications Officer. In these roles, they handled media relations, managed social media, and developed integrated campaigns and digital content.
In 2020, Megan became the Chief Communications & Planning Officer at the Independent Monitoring Authority, where they established the organization's integrated communications function. Megan Haf led a team to achieve strategic objectives through media handling, campaigns, digital communication, and corporate communications.
In 2022, Megan had a short-term Newsdesk Secondment at the Department of Health and Social Care. Most recently, they joined Table Tennis Wales as a Non-Executive Director of Communications and Engagement in 2023. Megan Haf is currently taking on the role of Senior Principal - Media and Content at the Equality and Human Rights Commission, where they support the Director of Communications in enhancing the Commission's external profile and provides expert advice on media relations, digital communication, and internal communication functions.
Megan Haf Powell-Williams attended the University of Birmingham from 2011 to 2015, where they studied History and Hispanic Studies, focusing on Spanish and Portuguese. In 2013, they spent a year abroad at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where they studied History, Spanish linguistics, and Portuguese. Prior to university, Megan attended Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Plasmawr from 2004 to 2011. Megan Haf also obtained additional certifications including PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner Certification Training from AXELOS Global Best Practice in 2022, Chartered PR Practitioner from CIPR – Chartered Institute of Public Relations in 2020, and CIPR Professional PR Certificate from CIPR – Chartered Institute of Public Relations in 2018.
