Miriam Pena's work experience includes various roles in the software engineering field.
Miriam began their career in 2008 at Nomasystems S.L. as a Senior Erlang Software Engineer, where they worked as a specialized Erlang consultant for international clients and was involved in designing and developing software communication systems. Miriam also worked with a major US automaker via Erlang Solutions Ltd., assisting in the development of an Erlang embedded system for CAN bus diagnostics and remote vehicle data collection.
In 2012, Miriam joined Tuenti via Nomasystems S.L. as a Senior Erlang specialist, leading the growth and evolution of the Erlang/OTP XMPP-based chat platform for the social network. Miriam was responsible for stabilizing the ejabberd installation and customizing it to handle peak concurrent user bursts.
Miriam's expertise in Erlang continued at NextRoll, where they held multiple roles. Miriam started as a Senior Software Engineer in 2014 and later became a Staff Software Engineer on the Real-Time Bidding team, leading the development of AdRoll's Erlang real-time bidding platform. Miriam then became the Technical Lead on the AdServers team, managing a distributed, high-available, scalable multi-region Erlang cluster.
In addition to their industry work, Miriam Pena also participated in the founding of the Erlang Ecosystem Foundation in 2018. Miriam serves as a board member for the non-profit organization, dedicated to furthering the state of the art for Erlang, Elixir, LFE, and other technologies based on the BEAM.
Throughout their career, Miriam Pena has demonstrated their expertise in Erlang and played key roles in various software development projects.
