Al van der Laan

Al van der Laan has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades.

From 2020 to present, Al worked as a Senior System Administrator at eSentire, where they are responsible for maintaining and improving NetApp storage processes and implementing disaster recovery using VEEAM Replication to AWS. Prior to that, from 2014 to 2020, Al was a Business Owner at AVL Consulting.

In 2019, Al worked as a School Bus Driver at Switzer-Carty Transportation Inc. Simultaneously, they also worked as a Senior Disaster Recovery Specialist on a contract basis at Sun Life Financial, optimizing the disaster recovery process and merging online and on-premise SharePoint.

From 2015 to 2018, Al held the position of Sr. Manager, IT at OpenText, managing storage experts, implementing storage solutions, and contributing to disaster recovery plans. Before that, in 2014, Al worked as an Independent Consultant.

Al's previous experience includes roles at Descartes Systems Group as Director IT Operations and Manager, IT Services, at Linamar as Project Manager and Applications Support Manager, and at John Deere as IT Manager and Senior Systems Manager.

Throughout their career, Al has demonstrated expertise in IT operations, project management, and disaster recovery, and has successfully aligned IT departments with business needs.

Al van der Laan's education history includes obtaining an Associate's degree in Economics from NHL Stenden Hogeschool, which was accomplished from 1979 to 1981. Prior to that, Al attended Nijlan from 1974 to 1979 and earned a diploma in General Studies.
