Petteri Tuomi has a diverse work experience starting from 2014. Petteri worked as a Mechanic trainee at Helen in 2014, 2015, and 2016, where they gained experience in maintenance and installation work at Salmisaari Power Plant. Petteri then joined ESL Shipping Oy in 2017 as a 3rd Engineer for a few months. In 2017, they also worked at Barona Teollisuus Ltd - ABB Marine and Ports as an Assembler. Since 2018, Petteri Tuomi has been working at ESL Shipping Ltd, initially as a 2nd Engineer and later as a Chief Engineer.
Petteri Tuomi's education history includes a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Marine Maintenance/Fitter and Ship Repair Technology/Technician from Xamk - South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences. Petteri completed this degree between 2012 and 2017.

In that same year, they completed a Simulator course corresponding to 30 days of seagoing service required by STCW regulation V/3 from Aboa Mare.
In terms of additional certifications, Petteri Tuomi obtained the AMOS - Maintenance & Purchase certification from Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences in 2016. In 2015, they completed the Maritime Resource Management Course from the same institution.
Lastly, Petteri Tuomi obtained the EA1, Tulityökortti, and Työturvallisuuskortti certifications in June 2014, although the institutions granting these certifications are not specified.
