Peter Bates

Peter Bates is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in the property management and construction sectors. Currently serving as Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of UniLodge Australia since October 2006, Bates oversees the management of 30,000 beds across more than 90 properties for universities and private investors in Australia and New Zealand. Since January 2018, Bates has also held the role of Executive Chairman at Essence Communities, a leading Build to Rent property management company in Australia. Previously, Bates worked at Bovis Lend Lease, where roles included General Manager for Queensland and Managing Director for Greater China, contributing to significant projects such as the Gallery of Modern Art and the Brisbane International Airport Terminal Expansion. Bates holds an Honours degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Queensland, where formal education was also pursued at Cromwell College.
