Michael S.

Michael S. has a diverse work experience in the arts and cultural industry. Michael started their career at the Salzburger Festspiele as an Opera Extra from 2002 to 2007. Michael then worked as the Head of Concert Office at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg in 2008, where they were responsible for planning and organizing events. Michael also served as the Head of Marketing & PR at Salzburger Kulturvereinigung from 2009 to 2018, contributing to the organization's increased reputation. Additionally, they were a Lecturer at the University of Ljubljana in 2010, teaching self-management and marketing for classical musicians. From 2018 to 2019, they served as the Managing Director of Camerata Salzburg, a prestigious chamber orchestra. Michael also worked as a consultant at Pure International Cultural Development in China from 2018 to 2020. In 2019, they became a Board Member and Authorized Officer at Harmony Foundation & Harmony World Organization GmbH, supporting intercultural dialogue through arts initiatives. Since 2014, Michael has been a University Lecturer at Universität Salzburg, teaching various courses related to performing arts, arts policy, and arts marketing. Most recently, in early 2023, they became the Head of Tourism, Arts & Events at Esterhazy. In 2020, Michael founded and became the owner of weTours SALZBURG, offering sightseeing tours in the region. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated a passion for arts management, marketing, and promoting cultural organizations.

Michael S. began their education at the College for Business Administration from 1996 to 2001, where they obtained a VET-Diploma in the Specialist Subject Area of Information and Communication Management. In 2001, they attended Paris Lodron Universität Salzburg, taking various law, politics, and musicology classes. From 2003 to 2007, Michael pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Multimedia Technology at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. In 2007, they enrolled in the University of London, specializing in Arts Policy and Management and completing their Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in 2009. In 2011, Michael attended Harvard University, focusing on Leadership. Later, they pursued further education in the Travel and Tourism Industry. In 2020, they obtained a Certificate for running a Travel Agency and Tour Operator from the Chamber of Commerce in Tyrol. Additionally, from 2020 to 2021, they earned certificates from the Chamber of Commerce in Salzburg for running a Bus and Coach Operator, a Taxi Operator and a Rental Car Company, as well as for hiring and training apprentices.
