Samantha Power has a diverse range of work experience. In 2019, they worked as a Climate Finance Consultant at the University of Maryland's Closing the Investment Gap Initiative. Samantha also served as a Coordinator for the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, where they led the working group on mobilizing private finance. Power has also been involved with various organizations focused on nature finance, such as the Buckminster Fuller Institute and Gaia Consortium. Samantha founded and worked as a Principal Consultant at Finance for Gaia, where they supported clients in developing strategies for transformative economic change. Power has also worked at the World Bank as a Nature Finance Specialist, contributing to thought leadership and analysis on sustainable financial systems and nature-based solutions. Additionally, they have provided climate policy consulting and support for political campaigns, including Beto for America.
Samantha Power completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, International Trade, and Finance at Louisiana State University from 2008 to 2012. Samantha later pursued a Master of Arts degree in International Economics and International Relations at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) from 2015 to 2017, specializing in Energy, Resources, and the Environment (Climate Change Track) and Southeast Asia Studies.
