Habtamu Tekeste

Habtamu Tekeste has extensive work experience in finance and accounting roles. Habtamu most recently served as the Financial Director for the Ethiopian Red Cross Society since May 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Finance Officer at HRNS-SAFA PCU for the Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung organization from November 2021 to May 2022. Habtamu has also held the position of Finance Manager at MERQ Consultancy from February 2021 to November 2021. Habtamu has a long history with the Ethiopian Red Cross Society, having been the Head of the Finance Department from August 2017 to December 2020, and previously serving as the Project Finance/Accounts/Budget Division Head from November 2010 to July 2017. Before their time at the Ethiopian Red Cross Society, Habtamu worked as an Accountant IV at Defense Construction Enterprise from February 2008 to October 2010, and as a Project Accountant for World Bank funded projects at the Gambella Regional Finance Bureau from January 2007 to February 2008.

Habtamu Tekeste began their educational journey in 2015 at Ambo University, where they pursued a degree in Accounting as well as a Diploma in Mathematics. In the same period, they also attended Addis Ababa University, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Finance & Development Economics. Additionally, Habtamu completed an MBA with a specialization in Finance. Habtamu'seducation spanned until 2017, during which they acquired certifications in IPSAS (International Public Sector Accounting Standards) as well.
