Ravi Arvapally

Ravi Arvapally has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of data science. Ravi is currently the Vice President of Data Science at Ethoca, where they oversee the data science department. Prior to this role, they worked as the Director of Data Science at Ethoca from 2020 to 2022.

Before joining Ethoca, Ravi worked at NuData Security, a Mastercard Company, as the Director of Product Innovation from 2019 to 2020. In this role, they led data science projects focused on device, sensor, and biometric data for payments and security. Ravi also built data-driven prototypes and demos to showcase biometrics within payments.

From 2014 to 2019, Ravi worked at Mastercard in various data science positions. Ravi started as a Lead Data Scientist, where they researched and proposed solutions for data-enabled science and engineering challenges across different domains. Ravi then advanced to the role of Principal Data Scientist, where they conducted experiments, developed models, and engineered features to optimize performance.

Ravi also has experience as a Data Scientist at DataKind, where they led a team of data scientists for the Dangerous Speech Project. Ravi researched and investigated predictive features to differentiate hate-speech and counter-speech from normal tweets using text mining and natural language processing techniques.

During their earlier career, Ravi worked as a Research Assistant at Missouri S&T. Ravi proposed new algorithms and frameworks for collaborative decision support and conducted experiments using argumentation-based systems.
