Alper Öner

Alper Öner, PhD has extensive work experience in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). Currently, they hold the position of Artificial Intelligence Research & Development Manager at Etiya, where they manage two teams: the AI Research Team and the MLOps Software Development Team. Their responsibilities include overseeing software development projects related to NLP, LLM, predictive analytics, decision making, digital twin, backend, and MLOps.

Prior to this, Alper Öner worked as an Assistant Professor at İstinye Üniversitesi, starting in August 2020. Alper also served as the Predictive & AI Engine Lead Engineer at Solvoyo from January 2020 to December 2020. In this role, they led the Machine Learning & AI team, designed the AI roadmap for the company, and built and deployed ML & AI models.

Before joining Solvoyo, Alper Öner worked as an Artificial Intelligence Instructor at MEF University from September 2018 to August 2020. Alper also had roles at ATP as a Senior Computer Vision & Machine Learning Engineer, where they provided training on AI to executives and engineers, designed AI projects in the finance domain, and offered consulting services to executives of ATA Holding on business domains. Additionally, they worked as a Computer Vision & Machine Learning Engineer, focusing on projects related to AI and IoT.

Earlier in their career, Alper Öner worked as a Creative Technologist at Yıldız Holding, where they created and managed technology projects. Alper also gained teaching and research experience as a Teaching and Research Assistant at Istanbul Technical University and conducted research at Coordinated Science Laboratory at the University of Illinois as a Research Scientist.

Alper Öner's work experience began with internships at Robosystem Inc. and ALTINAY Robot Technologies Inc. Alper has a strong background in AI, ML, computer vision, IoT, and has conducted research in areas such as stochastic control, optimal control, vector space optimization, and game theory.

Alper Öner, PhD, has a strong educational background in engineering and control systems. Alper earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Control Engineering from Istanbul Technical University from 2011 to 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's Degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, where they studied from 2009 to 2011. Alper holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from Kocaeli University, where they completed their undergraduate studies from 2004 to 2009.

Before entering university, Alper Öner attended Dede Korkut Anadolu Lisesi, where they completed their high school education with a focus on Science from 1997 to 2004.

Additionally, Alper Öner has acquired several certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. These certifications include Online Advanced Modern C++, System Programming and Advanced C, Advanced Java, Parallel Programming Summer School, C/C++, LabVIEW Core I & II – FPGA, CATIA, and FESTO-Bogazici University Mechatronics Summer School. These certifications were obtained at various institutions, including C ve Sistem Programcıları Derneği, Istanbul Technical University, National Instruments, and Özel Ferda Bilgisayar ve Muhasebe Kursu. The certifications were obtained between 2008 and 2022, demonstrating Alper Öner's commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
