Alex Cao

Alex Cao, P.Eng, is a Senior Metallurgical Engineer at Euro Manganese Inc. since 2022, with prior experience as a Senior Metallurgist at Vale from 2019 to 2022, and a Metallurgist at Kemetco Research from 2017 to 2019. Key projects include lithium recovery testing, recycling cathode materials from spent lithium-ion batteries, and EMD generation from cryptomelane resources. Cao also held positions as a researcher and teaching assistant at the University of British Columbia, focusing on manganese metal production and facilitating problem-based learning for materials science students. Earlier research work was completed as a research assistant at Central South University, presenting award-winning findings on leaching processes. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Materials Engineering from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Engineering in Metallurgical Engineering from Central South University.
