Robert Mavsar is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in research and management within environmental economics and forestry. Currently serving as the Director of the European Forest Institute since June 2007, Robert has held various leadership positions including Interim Director and Deputy Director, overseeing research functions and financial management. Previous roles include Acting Financial Manager and Head of Research Programme, where responsibilities included developing research initiatives and fostering international collaborations. Robert's early career included research positions at the Centre Tecnològic Forestal de Catalunya and Gozdarski Inštitut Slovenije, as well as an advisory role at the Ministry for Agriculture, Forestry and Food. Academically, Robert holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Economics and a Master’s Degree in Business and Economics, along with a Master’s Degree in Forestry, all obtained from reputable institutions in Slovenia.
