Pilar Rivera Ortega is a prominent expert in interstitial lung disease (ILD) with extensive experience in clinical practice, research, and leadership roles. Currently serving as the Secretary of Group - 12.04 - Rare ILD / DPLD at the European Respiratory Society and a member of the REMAP-ILD International Trial Steering Committee, Pilar is dedicated to advancing treatment and understanding of ILD. As the Clinical and Research Lead of the ILD unit at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust since 2022, Pilar also oversees specialized clinics addressing Post COVID-19 lung fibrosis and familial interstitial pneumonia. In addition to numerous research roles including Principal Investigator for various clinical trials, Pilar chairs the IPF/ILD Working Group at the Respiratory Effectiveness Group and contributes to multiple professional committees and boards, reinforcing a commitment to enhancing diagnostic and treatment approaches in respiratory medicine.
