Sofia Makieva

Sofia Makieva PhD is a seasoned professional in the field of reproductive sciences with extensive experience in clinical embryology and research. Currently serving as the Senior Deputy of SIG Embryology at the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) since June 2018, Sofia has contributed to the organization of educational activities and the promotion of clinical embryology. With a strong research background, including a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship and a PhD in Reproductive Sciences from the University of Edinburgh, Sofia's expertise includes endometrial receptivity, embryo implantation, and non-invasive preimplantation diagnostics. Previous roles include Clinical Embryologist at Universitätsspital Zürich and Ospedale San Raffaele, as well as a postdoctoral researcher at the MRC Centre for Reproductive Health. Sofia is also involved in editorial activities and communications within the ESHRE community.
