Annie Alvarado has a diverse work experience in various fields. Annie started their career as a Development Assistant at the University of Maryland in 2013, where they worked until 2015. Annie then joined Discovery Inc. as a Graphic Designer, supporting senior leaders and the design team in creating various presentation and business materials. In 2017, they worked as a Volunteer Library Assistant at the Hirshhorn Library and National Museum of American History Library at the Smithsonian Institution.
In 2017, they also began working at the University of Maryland College Park as a Student Assistant in Special Collections and University Archives, and later transitioned to a role as a Digital Repository and Collection Development Strategies Graduate Assistant in the UMD Libraries. In this role, they conducted surveys, interviews, and usability tests to support the launch of a web application for managing archival information and engaged in user research across multiple library departments.
In 2018, Annie worked as a Digital Repository/Digital Collections Intern at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Most recently, they joined EVERFI in 2019 as a UX Designer in the Product Development team. Annie progressed within the company and currently holds the position of Senior UX Researcher II, focusing on product development and conducting user research.
Annie Alvarado obtained their Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) degree from the University of Maryland between 2017 and 2019. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts degree at the same university from 2011 to 2015. Their undergraduate degree consisted of a double major in Studio Art (Graphic Design) and English Language & Literature. In addition to their degrees, Annie Alvarado also received the Trusted Tester certification from the Department of Homeland Security, Office of Accessible Systems & Technology in May 2023.
