Cassie Brown, SHRM-SCP has extensive experience in human resources, spanning over two decades. Starting in 1999, they worked at The Record Searchlight as an Accounting Supervisor before transitioning into an HR role as an HR Director. At The Record Searchlight, Cassie excelled in various HR responsibilities, including employee relations, compensation plan design, benefits management, labor and employee relations, learning and development, talent acquisition, succession planning, performance management, and job design and development.
In 2006, Cassie joined E W Scripps, where they served as the Corporate Employee Relations Manager/Director. In this role, they led global HR activities, managing labor and employee relations, compliance, policy design, succession planning, change management, health and safety, M&A, and divestiture activities for 8,000 employees across 55 locations. As an HR business partner to the corporate office, they collaborated with cross-functional leaders and C-Suite executives to align HR with business goals and objectives. Additionally, Cassie played a crucial role in overseeing the company spin-off and facilitating change management and communication plans.
In 2008, Cassie was appointed as the Director of HR Operations at Scripps Networks Interactive, a newly created company after a spin-off from E. W. Scripps. Cassie successfully developed and led HR operations and employee relations for the company.
Continuing their HR career, Cassie joined Discovery Inc (formerly Scripps Networks Interactive and E. W. Scripps) in 1999 as the Vice President of Human Resources. Cassie'sresponsibilities included strategic HR leadership, coaching executives, managers, and employees, employee relations, investigations, EEOC charges, employment law expertise, mergers and acquisitions HR leadership, project management, organizational design and development, succession planning, performance management, change management, communication management, and vendor and data management. Cassie was also involved in company-wide projects and initiatives as an HR lead.
In January 2019, Cassie established their HR consulting firm, Cassie Brown HR Consulting, LLC, where they offer a broad range of HR services tailored to the unique needs of individuals, small businesses, non-profits, and corporate clients. Cassie works as part of the client's team, understanding their priorities and providing expert HR guidance.
Later, in June 2020, Cassie took on the role of Executive Vice President of Human Resources at EVERYTHING BUT THE HOUSE (EBTH), where they lead the HR department in serving a community that celebrates rare, historical, and unique items.
Cassie's most recent position prior to their current role was as the VP of Human Resources at Community Brands. In this role, they served as the global head of HR for the company, which provides cloud-based software to associations, non-profits, K-12 schools, and faith-based groups.
Throughout their career, Cassie has demonstrated expertise in various HR functions, including talent acquisition, policy design and development, workforce planning, learning and development, as well as strong skills in project management, communication, and vendor management. Cassie is also knowledgeable in a wide range of software programs such as MS Office, PeopleSoft, Workday, ADP, and ServiceNow.
Cassie Brown, SHRM-SCP, earned their BA degree in Business and Human Resources Management from Simpson University. Cassie completed their degree from 1995 to 1997. Additionally, they hold additional certifications including the SHRM-SCP obtained from SHRM in July 2018, and the PHR obtained from HR Certification Institute - HRCI in July 2017.
