Katherine Mercier

Katherine joins Evofem with over 15 years of experience in the clinical and commercial biopharmaceutical industry and 10 years in senior leadership roles. Katherine has extensive leadership experience in building and directing successful multi-departmental Teams in different disciplines including; quality engineering, validation, process characterization and optimization, aseptic processing. She designed, commissioned, validated and started-up multiple GMP manufacturing facilities leading to successful regulatory approvals (US, Canada and EU).

Most recently, Katherine was the Head of Technical Operations at Vital Therapies, a San Diego based biotech company. She was responsible for Engineering, Validation, Facilities and Process Development. She upgraded the San Diego Manufacturing facility to improve compliance in preparation for FDA PAI inspection, designed a new commercial GMP manufacturing facility including site selection in the US and EU, created a Process Development team to focus on process characterization efforts, and managed CMC activities for BLA filing. Katherine earned her degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Sherbrooke, Canada and a Six Sigma Black Belt certification from the American Society of Quality.
