It's not much of a secret that the corporate team enjoys day-long meetings at Hard Rock Hotel San Diego because of the food created by Jon Eyer and his topnotch culinary team. Dishes are innovative, interesting and perfectly prepared and presented, and often Jon's kitchen is a pressure cooker of intense effort. It's during those moments that Chefy (as Jon is nicknamed) likes to display his unique sense of humor, going in for a smile to lighten the stress and picking his staff up as you would your own family. Developing his team, both personally and professionally, is one of Jon's passions. Creating innovative new menu concepts and helping other hotel culinary teams are two more.
But it's his passion for paying it forward that truly is the most interesting thing about Jon. Giving back started very early in his life. Jon's mom Nancy and dad Tom, a successful businessman, would organize their family and find ways to help others. Jon does the same thing now with his own family - wife Lisa, daughter Malia and son L.J. - giving back to the community through organizations such as Ronald McDonald House and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Although they seem counterintuitive, the two things Jon enjoys most about working with Evolution Hospitality are the opportunity to grow with a growing company and the life balance that associates are encouraged to have. Many times, getting ahead professionally means abandoning your family for your career. Jon enjoys his life because he can accomplish both without sacrificing either.
Jon's favorite Guiding Principle is "Make it better than it was before" because he believes continued growth and improvement is an ongoing process and is possible for each of us.
