Michael Thoresen has a diverse range of work experience in various industries. Michael began their career in 1986 at MARS Advertising as an Account Executive. In 1988, they joined J. Walter Thompson as a Vice President- Account Supervisor, where they managed creative and production assignments for the Ford Division. Michael then moved on to Lionel Trains LLC as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, before joining Campbell-Ewald in 1998 as a Senior Vice President- Management Supervisor. At Campbell-Ewald, they managed key product launches and oversaw the GM Dealer Co-op Advertising Program. In 2000, Thoresen joined EWI Worldwide as a Senior Vice President- Global Account Director, where they played a role in creating engaging brand experiences. In 2010, they became the Creator/CEO of Jack Squat Outfitters, LLC, a manufacturer and distributor of casual clothing and outdoor gear. Additionally, Thoresen has served on the board of advisors for the College for Creative Studies and is a Founding Board Member of the Alex Thoresen Legacy Foundation, a nonprofit organization that contributes to local agencies in the community. Overall, Thoresen has demonstrated expertise in marketing, management, and brand development throughout their career.
Michael Thoresen pursued their education at various institutions. Michael first attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1981 to 1983, where they focused on General Business, specifically Accounting and Economics. Michael then joined Michigan State University's Eli Broad College of Business from 1983 to 1986, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, with a major in Marketing and a minor in Accounting. Continuing their academic journey, Michael Thoresen attended Michigan State University once again from 1989 to 1991, this time completing a Master of Arts in Advertising, specializing in Advertising & Marketing.
