Shazia Tanvir (PhD) has held a variety of roles in the research and development field since 1997. Shazia began their career as a Microbiologist (Research Assistant) at Quaid-i-Azam University Isamabad in 1997. In 2000, they took on the role of Lecturer in the Department of Zoology at Lahore College for Women University. From 2010 to 2012, they held various roles at Universit\u00e9 de Technologie de Compi\u00e8gne, including Chercheur Contractuel (Enzyme and Cell Engineering) and Teaching Assistant. During this time, they developed strategies for the controlled orientation of Cytochrom P450 and mGST1 at the surface, as well as an in vitro tool for the prediction of adverse drug reactions in chronic ethanol consumers associated with cytochrome CYP2E1. In 2012, they moved to the University of Waterloo, where they served as a Biomedical nanotechnology research scientist. In this role, they developed gold nanoparticle conjugates of aptamers for the sensing of SARS Cov-2 from surfaces in few minutes, and invented a rapid colour test for predicting the antimicrobial efficacy of copper, silver and zinc based surfaces in few minutes, as well as an ultra-sensitive enzyme-based E. coli test that can detect low levels of E. coli contamination in water within few hours. In 2015, they began their current role as Research and Development Director at Genemis Laboratories Inc.

Shazia Tanvir began their educational journey in 1994 when they obtained a Master of Zoology from the University of the Punjab, focusing on Microbiology, General. Shazia then went on to pursue a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Microbiology and Immunology from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad in 1997-1998. In 2004-2005, they earned a Master's degree in Biotechnology from Universit\u00e9 de Technologie de Compi\u00e8gne (UTC). Finally, Shazia Tanvir completed their PhD in Biotechnology from Universit\u00e9 de Technologie de Compi\u00e8gne (UTC) in 2005-2009.
