Nae-Chyun Chen has a diverse work experience. From 2015-2018, they were a Teaching Assistant at National Taiwan University. From 2016-2020, they were a Research Intern at Synopsys Inc and Google. In 2021, they were a Project Student at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), where they advised by Dr. Adam Phillippy and Dr. Sergey Koren, generated lift-over and browser resources for the first complete human genome (Science 2022), developed the "levioSAM2" software to improve alignment using a complete reference genome and lift-over (bioRxiv 2022), and developed the "chaintools" toolkit to process chain files describing whole-genome maps. Currently, they are a Software Engineer in Computational Genomics at Exai Bio.
Nae-Chyun Chen attended National Taiwan University from 2010 to 2015, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. In 2015, they earned a Master of Science in Integrated Circuit Design from the same university. In 2018, they began their Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science at The Johns Hopkins University, which they are still pursuing. In 2014, they also attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, but did not earn a degree.
