Kent Fagan began their work experience in 2000 as an Instructor in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Kent then worked as a Clerk/Technical Specialist at Wood Herron & Evans LLP from 2005 to 2007. From 2007 to 2021, they served as a Patent Counsel at Thompson Hine LLP. In 2021, they joined Exelixis as a Senior Corporate Counsel, focusing on patents. In March 2022, they transitioned to the role of Senior Director and Counsel, Patents at Exelixis.

Kent Fagan completed their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from George Mason University in 1991. Kent then pursued further studies and obtained a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus between 1992 and 1998. Kent also attended the University of Denver - Sturm College of Law from 2004 to 2006, earning a JD degree in Law. Additionally, they briefly studied at the UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law in 2003. Kent's earlier education includes studies in Biology and Chemistry at West Virginia University from 1987 to 1989, and they completed their secondary education at Robinson Secondary School from 1978 to 1981.
