FH-Prof. DI Dr. Stefan Sauermann worked for eleven years at the Medical University of Vienna at the Center for Biomedical Engineering and Physics as a university assistant and in numerous research projects. Numerous publications and a patent have resulted from the work on methods for the acquisition, analysis, representation, and management of bio signs.
Since January 1999 he has been a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien and since 2011 as head of the Master’s program in Biomedical Engineering Sciences. He is a key researcher in the research focus "eHealth" at the UAS Technikum Wien and coordinates this topic at the Institute for Biomedical Technology at the Technikum Wien. He is active in several national and international projects, including sub-projects to set up the Austrian Electronic Health Record (ELGA).
He is an expert in the Austrian Standards Committee "Medical Informatics" ON-K238 of the Austrian Standards Institute, from 2003-2014 as chairman. In this context, he is also active in international standardization, in CEN, ISO, and IEEE, and he is a founding member of IHE Austria. As a moderator of the working group 2 "Interoperability - Standards" of the Austrian e-Health Initiative (eHI) set up in 2005 on the initiative of the Austrian Ministry of Health, he was significantly involved in the development of the recommendations for interoperability standards in the Austrian health system.
