Abby Weiss

SVP & Chief Officer, Program & Thought Leadership at Facing History and Ourselves

Abby leads all aspects of Facing History's program implementation, and is responsible for the ongoing professional development of program staff, including innovating Facing History’s approach to classroom resources and educator professional development. Abby’s career in education has been driven by her passion for supporting the learning and development of all students – particularly those who have been least well served by our education system – from early education through post-secondary.

Abby Weiss joined Facing History and Ourselves in March 2020. Prior to joining Facing History, Abby served as the Chief Program Officer at Jumpstart, a national early education organization. There, Abby led the development and execution of the organization’s programmatic and evaluation strategy, its policy and advocacy work, as well as its workforce pathways initiative. Previously, Abby helped launch the Education Redesign Lab at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education to build a new “education engine” for economically disadvantaged students. Earlier, she led Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick’s Child and Youth Readiness Cabinet, collaborating with school district leadership in high poverty communities across the state to develop strategies for improving outcomes for children and their families.

Abby received her master's degree in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and her B.A. from Brown University.
