Janice Szymanski

Janice Szymanski, AIA, currently serves as the Chief of Facilities Services & Capital Programs for Fairfax County Public Schools, leading a team of over 650 staff in managing facility planning, design, and construction for 28 million square feet of facilities. Previous roles include Executive Program Manager for the DC Department of General Services, managing the DC Public Schools Modernization Program, and Director of Facility Planning & Design at District of Columbia Public Schools. Janice's architectural experience encompasses positions as an Associate at Grimm + Parker Architects, where important projects included new elementary schools and a special needs facility, as well as various internships that provided a foundation in educational and municipal architecture. Janice holds both a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati and has completed a study abroad program in Scandinavia.
