Amrita Namasivayam

Amrita Namasivayam, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Amrita is currently working as an International Project Lead at Family Planning New Zealand. Prior to this, they founded their own consultancy firm called Halcyon Health Consulting in 2020. Amrita has also worked as an External Collaborator at Economist Impact and as a Project Manager, Service Delivery at Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children.

Amrita has a research background and has served as a Research Fellow in Health and Education at Project Drawdown from 2020 to 2022. Amrita has also been involved in academic work as a Teaching Assistant and PhD SOAR (Peer) advisor at the University of Canterbury, where they taught courses in health sciences and provided guidance to fellow doctoral students.

Amrita Namasivayam, PhD completed a Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences (Biomedical Science) with a minor in Business Management at the National University of Singapore in 2008. Amrita then pursued a Master's degree in Global Health at Karolinska Institutet from 2010 to 2011. In 2015, they obtained another Master's degree in Public Health in Disasters from Universidad de Oviedo. Continuing their education, they earned a Master's degree in Public Health in Disasters from Karolinska Institutet in 2016. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Health at the University of Canterbury from 2017 to 2020. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications in areas such as needs assessments in disasters, contraception, disaster preparedness, and AIDS.
