Miya (Yiyang) Wu

Miya (Yiyang) Wu has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Miya (Yiyang) worked as a Business Development Specialist at Fantuan 饭团, where they negotiated with food delivery merchants and established cooperative relationships. Miya (Yiyang) also worked as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Alberta, where they assisted with teaching biology courses and conducted research. In addition, they worked as a Private Tutor in biology and various other subjects at Easy Group Inc and Vertex Global Education. Miya (Yiyang) also gained experience as a Business Owner at Adoption of Love, where they focused on animal protection and pet welfare. Before their university studies, they worked as a Table Tennis Assistant Trainer at the Henan Table Tennis Association. Miya also served as a Research Supervisor at WISEST UAlberta and gained experience as a Graphic Design Artist and Research Intern at Henan University of Technology. Miya (Yiyang) was also involved in the Chinese Student and Scholars Association (UACSSA) as an Executive Member and Program Designer.

Miya (Yiyang) Wu graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology/Animal Biology, specializing in the program. Miya (Yiyang) graduated with distinction from this program in 2021.

Miya (Yiyang) pursued further education at the University of Alberta, where they are currently enrolled as a Master of Science student in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Miya (Yiyang)'sthesis-based program started in 2021 and is expected to be completed in 2024.

In addition to their formal education, Miya (Yiyang) Wu has pursued several online course certificates to enhance their knowledge and skills. Miya (Yiyang) completed an online course on Introduction to Forensic Science from Nanyang Technological University Singapore. Miya (Yiyang) Wu also completed online course certificates in Python Syntax and Semantics and Introduction to Genomic Technologies from The Johns Hopkins University. Miya (Yiyang) further completed an online course certificate in Understanding the Brain: The Neurobiology of Everyday Life from The University of Chicago Graham School. Additionally, they completed an online course certificate in Animal Behaviour and Welfare from The University of Edinburgh. Furthermore, they earned an online course certificate in Dino 101: Dinosaur Paleobiology from the University of Alberta and a certificate in Programming for Everybody (Getting Started with Python) from the University of Michigan.

Miya (Yiyang) Wu has also obtained additional certifications outside of their academic studies. Prior to their university education, they acquired the Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT) certification from the Chinese School of Advanced Veterinary Medicine in 2016. Additionally, they obtained a CPR/AED/First Aid certification from St. John Ambulance Canada | Ambulance Saint-Jean in 2023.
