Carolina Garrido has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research and development. Carolina'smost recent role is as a Principal Scientist at Fate Therapeutics Inc, where they lead the development of analytical test methods for cell therapy drug products. Carolina also provides expertise on potency and product characterization methods to other teams within the company.

Prior to that, they worked at The Duke Human Vaccine Institute as a Senior Research Scientist, focusing on analyzing immune response to SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccination, particularly in pediatric populations. Carolina also studied virus-specific immune responses in infants infected with HIV or receiving a vaccine.

Carolina also has experience as a Research Instructor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, and as a Research Associate and Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they conducted research on HIV eradication and enhancing the immune response to improve clearance of HIV infected cells.

Earlier in their career, Carolina worked as a PhD student at Hospital Carlos III, conducting research on HIV drug resistance, tropism, and the use of dried blood spots for infection follow-up. Carolina also participated in a WHO program evaluating methods to monitor drug resistance in developing countries. Additionally, they had an internship as a Marketing Assistant at GlaxoSmithKline, where they assisted in the preparation of promotional and educational materials.

Carolina's work experience spans various scientific disciplines and demonstrates their expertise in the field of immunology and infectious diseases.

Carolina Garrido holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Biology from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, which they completed in the years 1998 to 2004. Carolina also obtained a Certificate of Teaching Competence in Secondary Education and Teaching from the same university in 2005. Carolina pursued a Magister degree in AIDS and Viral Hepatitis at Universidad Complutense de Madrid between 2006 and 2008. Later on, Carolina completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Molecular Biology from the same institution, finishing their studies in 2011. In 2013, they took a course titled "Communication in the American Classroom" at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
