Allison Berger is currently serving as a Client & Mitigation Specialist at the Federal Defenders of New York Inc. since December 2022. Additionally, Allison has been a Senior Adjunct Lecturer at Columbia University's School of Social Work since September 2017, where responsibilities include facilitating a year-long practicum seminar for graduate students and providing social work supervision and academic advising. Previous experience includes a Mitigation Specialist role at the Legal Aid Society's Criminal Appeals Bureau from September 2014 to December 2022, where comprehensive assessments and detailed mitigation reports were produced for various post-conviction issues. Prior to that, Allison worked as a Forensic Social Worker in the Juvenile Rights Practice at the Legal Aid Society, and as a Paralegal Case Handler in the Prisoners' Rights Practice. Allison holds a Master of Social Work degree from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from The George Washington University.
