Sung Je Byun is a Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, where since August 2015, research focuses on academic and policy-driven topics in Supervisory Risk & Surveillance within Banking Supervision, including asset pricing, banking, energy, and climate change. Prior to this role, Sung Je Byun served as a Research Economist at UC San Diego from September 2009 to June 2015 and completed a Ph.D. in Economics at the same institution. Earlier experience includes a position as a Junior Quantitative Portfolio Manager at Mirae Asset MAPS Global Investments Co., Ltd from January 2007 to June 2009 and an internship at Woori Investment & Securities in June 2005. Sung Je Byun holds a Master of Arts in Statistics from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management with a focus on Applied Statistics from Yonsei University.
